The Armament and Disarmament Summer School 2025 in Sweden is a fully financed opportunity for students, academics, and young professionals to gain a better understanding of arms control, nonproliferation, and international security. This prestigious summer school, hosted by the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI) and Uppsala University’s Alva Myrdal Centre for Nuclear Disarmament (AMC), aims to provide participants with critical knowledge, skills, and networks to support global disarmament efforts.

This fully financed summer course in Europe includes travel (air or train), visa charges, travel insurance, local transportation, lodging, and meals. It is available to 25 highly motivated individuals from government and non-government organizations, think tanks, and universities. Candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree and be currently enrolled or just graduated from a university. The selection process encourages diversity, equity, and inclusion, with a focus on women, underrepresented groups, and applicants from poor nations.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Applicants may be from government offices, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), or think tanks.
  • Prior to starting the program, you must have finished a bachelor’s degree.
  • Should be a current university student or a recent graduate.
  • Those who have previously attended the program are not eligible to apply again.

How to apply for the the Armament and Disarmament Summer School 2025

  1. Applicants must submit applications in English.
  2. A resume/CV highlighting academic and professional experience is essential.
    Must include names and contact information for two references.
  3. A one-page motivation letter outlining why they want to participate and why they should be chosen.
  4. Applications should be submitted using the form found on the SIPRI openings section of the website.
