The University of Sheffield Sanctuary International Visitors Support Scheme is now accepting applications. This UK University of Sheffield Scholarship is completely financed. The purpose of the Sanctuary International Visitors Support Scheme is to provide assistance to scholars who have been forced to flee their native countries due to violence or persecution.
Up to three academics may receive funding from the University of Sheffield to carry out their study in Sheffield for a maximum of 12 months. Among universities in the UK and around the world, the University of Sheffield is highly regarded.

Eligibility
To be eligible for the scheme:
You must be an academic who has been displaced or affected by conflict or persecution in your home country
You must be able to obtain a UK visa under the Ukrainian visa schemes or another type of UK visa, if applicable, in the case of other nationalities
Your proposed area of research should align with areas of research at the University of Sheffield. Here is a list of our academic departments
When it is safe and suitable to do so, applicants are required to continue working for their home institution and return home to continue their research.
Assistance Offered
- Position as a visiting researcher at the University of Sheffield, situated in a host department. There will be an academic mentor assigned to you.
- A primary point of contact will be assigned to you for assistance with the logistical parts of your visit. borrowing, services, and e-resources available at the library.
- Access to additional university resources, including the English Language Teaching Centre, a private counselling hotline, and an associate computer account.
Financial Support Provided
- £17,350 annual subsistence allowance (pro rata). An extra £5,000 per year (pro-rata) for each dependent, up to a maximum of three.
- Arrival costs up to £2,500, including travel expenses. Up to £2,500 in project-related expenses.
- Accommodation: As part of the visa requirements, free lodging is offered under the Homes, for Ukraine Scheme for a minimum of six months. Those who apply but are not accepted for the Homes for Ukraine program will be assisted in locating acceptable housing.

Expressions of interest must be submitted by 22 April 2024.
After the deadline, every application will be evaluated. The evaluation will be predicated on the prerequisites for eligibility and the degree to which the proposed research topic and the academic research areas of the host department coincide.
Rest assured that we are aware of the challenging conditions in which applicants will be filling out these forms, the possibility that they won’t have all the necessary information or documentation on hand, and the possibility that they won’t have much time to finish the form.
