The USIP Peace Scholar Fellowship program 2025 offers non-residential funding to PhD students at US universities working on their dissertations. The program has helped numerous researchers advance their careers in research, higher education, and policymaking. To sponsor more fellowships, USIP works with the Minerva Research Initiative.

The USIP fellowship program focuses on underrepresented populations in international relations, conflict studies, diplomacy, and international policymaking. Proposals that offer solutions to reduce conflicts in the Indo-Pacific, Europe, Africa, and the Middle East when preventative measures are inadequate, overworked, or malfunctioning will be prioritized.
Details
This multinational scholarship will focus on reducing violence and solving other concerns such as organized crime. These crimes exacerbate community instability and increase migration from Central and South America, the Caribbean, and other areas. Proposals to support democratic transitions and combat violent extremism in key regions such as East Africa, the Sahel, and West Africa will be examined.
International research programs can be linked to techniques used by American adversaries to incite conflict and reduce American influence in countries critical to national security. Fellows will receive a stipend of up to $20,000 in three installments, which they can use to cover their living expenses. The USIP funded fellowship will allow the opportunity to engage in an in-person yearly workshop in Washington, D.C., which will create networking opportunities for all.
