Terengganu’s Enduring Legacy
Terengganu, Malaysia, has long been noted for its scholastic traditions. Sultan Zainal Abidin III, who reigned from 1881 to 1918, established the Terengganu Palace as a seat of Islamic learning and is widely regarded as one of the state’s most religious rulers. Today, Universiti Sultan Zainal Abidin (UniSZA) upholds this tradition. UniSZA, founded as an Islamic institution in 1980, has grown significantly, becoming a public university in 2006.
