As part of the RISE@ATU postgraduate student bursary program, Atlantic Technological University (ATU) is providing 60 PhD scholarships. This program consists of five cohorts of twelve PhD studentships, each of which collaborates with at least one business partner. These partnerships enable students to conduct advanced research and address real-world business concerns.

These PhD studentships are centred on key regional strategic research areas such as Advanced Manufacturing & Engineering, AgriFood & AgriTech, Audiovisual/Creative, ICT & ICT Services, Life Sciences, MedTech & Medical Devices, Marine & Blue Economy, Renewable Energy, Climate Change Mitigation, and Sustainability. These possibilities cultivate a competent pool of researchers and enable collaboration between academia and industry by providing postings that bridge the divide between the two sectors.

The 60 scholarship possibilities are spread throughout five Postgraduate Research Training Programmes.

The Atlantic Technological University (ATU) RISE PhD Scholarship is a distinguished program co-funded by the Irish government and the European Union under the ERDF Southern, Eastern, and Midland Regional Programme 2021-27 and the Northern and Western Regional Programme 2021-27. This scholarship intends to support the future generation of researchers and innovators by providing 60 PhD scholarships in a variety of academic topics. The curriculum emphasizes regional strategic research themes and encourages collaboration between students and businesses.

Prospective applicants should download the pamphlets to learn more about the specifics of each PRTP and individual project.
