The IARC Summer School 2025 in France is for researchers and medical professionals working in cancer prevention and control. The Summer School aims to foster worldwide cooperation while also providing an unparalleled multicultural and multidisciplinary learning environment. This international program will assist academics in broadening their network and improving contact with IARC teachers, expert overseas guests, and other fellow participants.
The summer research program includes two modules. The first module, “INTRODUCTION TO CANCER EPIDEMIOLOGY,” will concentrate on the practical application of epidemiological principles and methodologies to various cancer control activities, with a particular emphasis on the examination of cancer causes. The second module, “IMPLEMENTING CANCER PREVENTION AND EARLY DETECTION,” will provide a complete understanding of the principles, concepts, challenges, and practices associated with early detection, cancer prevention, and program implementation.
This fully funded scholarship for international students will include both online and in-person learning activities. The online autonomous learning will last 2-4 weeks and will include live sessions as well as individual and group homework prior to the course. The five-day face-to-face program will take place in Lyon, France, and will include interdisciplinary lectures, group exercises, and practical sessions led by IARC faculty members, as well as in-person contacts with IARC scientists. During the in-person training in Lyon, participants will have the opportunity to visit sites and attend networking activities.

Eligibility Criteria for IARC Summer SchoolÂ
- Applicants may be cancer registry workers, epidemiologists, statisticians, physicians and oncologists, public health professionals, postgraduate students, or those interested in cancer epidemiology, cancer registration, or cancer control efforts.
- The applicants should be from low- and middle-income countries.
- Candidates can attend only one out of two modules offered.
- Candidates should fulfill the prerequisite for Prevention module.
- Applicants must be skilled in the English language. Participants must be fluent in the English language.
- Participants can only apply and attend one module.
- Applicants should be familiar with the module’s contents and learning outcomes.
- Before applying, candidates should learn about the time commitment needed to finish the module.
- Participants must attend all scheduled activities.Participants who attend the whole course and complete all scheduled online and face-to-face activities will get a certificate of completion.
- Candidates should seek for a completion certificate throughout the application process.
- Applicants should request a signed letter from their supervisor or the university during the application process.
