Qualifications for Eligibility
Under two primary programs, the scholarship funds undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral studies:
1. Type A Bilateral Program
Apply through your country’s dispatching authority, such as the Ministry of Education.
- A bachelor’s degree is earned by someone under 25 who has completed high school.
- Master’s Degree: a bachelor’s degree holder under 35
- Master’s degree holder under 40 with a doctorate
- A general scholar is someone under 45 who has completed high school.
- Senior Scholar: a person under 50 with a master’s degree and the title of associate professor
2. Agency Code for Hainan University’s Chinese University Program (Type B): 10589
Apply directly to Hainan University for degree programs only.
- Bachelor’s: under 25 and having completed high school
- Master’s: bachelor’s degree holder under 35
- PhD: under 40, master’s degree holder
Language Requirements:
- Programs taught in Chinese: HSK Level 4 (≥180)
- Programs taught in English: IELTS score of at least 6.0 or TOEFL score of at least 78 (or exemption for native English-speaking nations)

- A passport that is still valid after September 2025

- Two letters of recommendation for academic work
