Swiss Government Excellence Scholarships are fully funded and open to international students. The scholarship allows for research and master’s level programs in all subjects taught at Swiss universities and offered by the Swiss government. The scholarship deadline is September-December.
Every year, the Swiss Confederation awards Government Excellence Scholarships to encourage international exchange and research collaboration between Switzerland and more than 180 other countries. The Federal Commission for Scholarships for Foreign Students (FCS) selects the recipients.

Qualifications for Eligibility
Applications are subject to preliminary selection by national authorities and/or Swiss diplomatic representation. The Federal Commission for Scholarships for Foreign Students (FCS) reviews the short-listed applications and makes the final decision.
The FCS assesses scholarship applications using three criteria:
- Profile of the candidate
- Quality of research project or artistic work
- Synergies and opportunities for future research collaboration
The FCS consists of professors from Swiss public universities. Scholarships are awarded based on academic and scientific excellence.
