The University of Brescia offers two STAR scholarships for students from underdeveloped countries to study bachelor’s degrees in Italy for the Academic Year 2025/2026.

Scholarships are limited to the normal term of the study program for students desiring to enroll in undergraduate courses taught in Italian and English. Only business and economics courses are taught in English, whereas a variety of other courses are available in Italian.

Scholarship benefits

  • Exemption from tuition fees (except from the 156 Euro regional tax)
  • Euro 6150 is the annual scholarship amount.
  • A spot reserved in the university residence
  • Students who have received or are currently receiving other grants from Italian governmental agencies for the academic year in question are not eligible to receive the grant. A maximum of six months may be spent participating in an international mobility program by students who have been granted an international scholarship.

 Eligibility Requirements 

Candidates interested in applying to STAR Scholarship must:

  • Have a high school degree achieved in a non-EU country that was obtained after minimum 12 years of education granting access to undergraduate programs in the country it was obtained.
  • Possess citizenship in a developing nation as defined by Decree No. 440/2024, February 13, 2024, or one of the nations listed below as priority countries by the Italian Agency for Cooperation: Palestine, Cuba, Egypt, El Salvador, Jordan, Iraq, Kenya, Lebanon, and Tunisia (see to annexes 2)
  • Both Italian and English-language courses are available to candidates. The scholarship is worth €6,150.00 per year. According to the call for applications released with Rector Decree n. 1236 of December 20, 2024, three of the total number of STAR scholarships—including those awarded for enrollment in a Master’s degree program—will be given preference to students from African nations.
  • Must be attending an Italian university for the first time.

How to Apply for the University of Brescia STAR STAR Scholarship 2025.

Applicants must submit their scholarship applications by 12:00 PM Italian time (11:00 AM UTC) on March 31, 2025, using the PICA platform available at Apply NOW button.

  • In the online application, each candidate may select only one bachelor’s degree and submit one scholarship application.
  • The application needs to be filled out, printed, signed, scanned, and posted to the system.
  • Name, last name, gender, date of birth, country of birth, nationality, address, email, and phone number are required personal information.

Documents Required for University of Brescia STAR Scholarship Application

  • A valid identity document (passport preferred).
  • High school diploma with an official certification that includes:
    1. Name and level of qualification.
    2. Final grade obtained, including the lowest and highest scores that might be obtained.
    3. The year of completion.
    4. Address and name of the issuing organization.
    5. A certificate of enrollment must be shown if the final degree has not yet been earned.
    6. Proof of at least one year of post-secondary education, along with a transcript of completed courses, must be given if the diploma was earned in less than 12 years of schooling.
  • If the original qualifying documents are not issued in Italian or English, they can be certified to be translated into these languages.
  • Candidates enrolling in programs taught in Italian must have an Italian language competency certificate (minimum CEFR B2). Either the Dante Alighieri University of Reggio Calabria or a CLIQ system entity must provide valid certifications. If not, admission will be contingent upon passing the University of Brescia’s Italian proficiency exam.
  • A certificate of English language proficiency (CEFR B2) is required of applicants for the Business and Economics course. The CLA Language Certificates page lists the accepted certificates: https://www.unibs.it/en/education/useful-information/certifications-andmodules/language-certificate.
    • Applicants who completed their education entirely in English are exempt.
  • Curriculum vitae (no more than two pages, in English or Italian).
  • It is optional but advised to include a reference letter or the name and email address of a teacher from the applicant’s school.

The selection board retains the authority to ask for more papers and/or hold video conferences for remote interviews.

Important Notes

  • Applications will not be accepted if they are incomplete, lack necessary supporting documentation, are submitted improperly, or are received after the deadline.
  • Additionally, any application that is filed using a manner other than those listed will be denied.
