The Richard and Susan Hayden Academy Fellowship 2025 in London is open to persons from all over the world who work in academia, non-governmental organisations, corporations, government departments, civil societies, or media agencies. This international fellowship program allows fellows to contribute to the institute’s core mission, gain leadership skills, and increase professional connections in international affairs.

This fully paid fellowship program is for early-to-mid-career professionals. It will allow them to work on their selected individual research projects for 10 months at Chatham House. The Richard and Susan Hayden Fellowship Program for International Candidates is divided into three sections. First, fellows will select and create their own projects, which they will finish under the supervision of a Chatham House expert. Second, fellows must collaborate with their host research team and other teams to contribute new information to existing research in accordance with Chatham House’s objective.

  • The initiative will cover the cost of the UK Immigration Healthcare Surcharge, which will provide access to the UK National Health Service.
  • The program will fund the costs of research, outreach, and dissemination, such as fieldwork, travel, conferences, publications, roundtables, and events.
  • Fellows who successfully complete the program will have access to The Academy’s teachers and alumni, as well as five years of Chatham House membership.

Eligibility Criteria 

  • Applicants must have achieved a BA degree or equivalent and have prior research experience.
  • Candidates should be knowledgeable with international affairs, their chosen study topic, and Chatham House’s mission and research.
  • Fellows must work full-time and cannot pursue any other work or studies.
  • Applicants must hold an undergraduate or postgraduate degree, or have equivalent professional training or experience in the appropriate field.
  • Applicants should have demonstrated leadership skills or potential.
  • Applicants should be motivated to complete all of the fellowship’s objectives and take advantage of all of the activities and opportunities available throughout the program.
  • Applicants must be proficient in spoken English.
